Rigs drilling offshore the US gained 2 units this week, reaching a total of 26. Rigs drilling on land dropped 1 unit to reach 938. Those rigs working in inland waters fell to 3, down 1 unit from last week.

Rigs targeting oil in the US added 4 units to reach 793 this week. Gas-directed rigs in the US dropped 4 units to reach 173.

Among the major oil and gas-producing states, Oklahoma and Louisiana each gained 2 units this week to reach respective counts of 102 and 72.

Texas, at 464 units this week, and Wyoming, at 32 rigs, each gained 1 rig.
