The US rig count was unchanged for the week ended June 28, according to Baker Hughes data. With 967 rigs working, the count is 80 units lower than the 1,047 rigs drilling this week a year ago.
Rigs drilling offshore the US gained 2 units this week, reaching a total of 26. Rigs drilling on land dropped 1 unit to reach 938. Those rigs working in inland waters fell to 3, down 1 unit from last week.
Rigs targeting oil in the US added 4 units to reach 793 this week. Gas-directed rigs in the US dropped 4 units to reach 173.
Among the major oil and gas-producing states, Oklahoma and Louisiana each gained 2 units this week to reach respective counts of 102 and 72.
Texas, at 464 units this week, and Wyoming, at 32 rigs, each gained 1 rig.
